India, Sept. 30 -- Cloudflare has announced plans to become a public Certificate Authority (CA), offering digital certificates that websites use to encrypt traffic and verify their identity. The planned CA will support both conventional encryption and post-quantum Merkle Tree Certificates (MTCs).

Cloudflare also plans to acquire publicly trusted Root CA key material from GlobalSign. The acquisition is intended to provide broad compatibility for Cloudflare-issued certificates across the global Web Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).
