Bank of Baroda data leak sparks cybersecurity concerns
India, July 28 -- State-owned Bank of Baroda has confirmed a cybersecurity incident after reports emerged that a large volume of customer and internal data had been posted on the dark web. The bank said the incident resulted from the compromise of an employee's email account and maintained that its core banking systems were not accessed.
The confirmation follows claims by a threat actor that around 1TB of data had been leaked online, including customer information and internal banking documents. While cybersecurity researchers have reported that sample files are available on the dark web, the bank has not confirmed the volume or nature of the data allegedly exposed.
