Avantel to develop DRDO ground hub for satellite communications
India, Aug. 31 -- Avantel has secured a Rs 117.88 crore contract, including applicable taxes, from the Defence Electronics Applications Laboratory (DEAL) of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for the development, installation and commissioning of a Ground Segment Hub for voice and data communication.
The project, given by the Ministry of Defence, will use an Indian geostationary satellite to support voice and data communications through the ground segment infrastructure.
The contract adds to Avantel's work in communication infrastructure for defence and strategic applications, with the project focused on establishing the ground-based systems required to support satellite-enabled communications.
