India, March 27 -- Bharti Airtel has emerged as the leading telecom operator in India for January in terms of subscriber additions, signalling a shift in competitive dynamics in an increasingly saturated market.

According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) January 2026 data, Airtel added 4.4 million wireless subscribers during the month, significantly ahead of Reliance Jio, which recorded 2.4 million additions. In contrast, Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) continued to lose ground, with a decline of around 0.4 million users.
