AI, mobile payments widen India's cyber risk landscape: CERT-In
India, July 17 -- India's rapidly expanding digital payments ecosystem is facing a new generation of cyber threats as attackers increasingly exploit artificial intelligence, mobile devices, APIs and digital identities to compromise real-time financial transactions, according to the Digital Threat Report 2025-26.
The report, jointly released on Monday by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), the Computer Security Incident Response Team in Finance (CSIRT-Fin) and SISA, identifies mobile and UPI fraud, AI-generated phishing, deepfake impersonation, credential theft, API abuse, cloud exploitation and software supply-chain attacks as the fastest-growing cyber ris...
