Ninh Binh, March 18 -- Vietnam has underscored the vital role of forests in driving sustainable economic growth as it joins global celebrations of the International Day of Forests, observed annually on March 21. At a ceremony held in the northern province of Ninh Binh on March 18, the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), in coordination with the Forestry and Forest Protection Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, highlighted this year's global theme, "Forests and Economies."
