Singapore, Feb. 26 -- Australia's national carrier Qantas is set to have its first cabin crew base in Singapore from September, with plans to expand the operation to 650 crew members over the next five years. As reported by The Straits Times, the airline said it aims to get 120 crew members for the Singapore base within the first year. Some of them will be drawn from its Australian-headquartered low-cost subsidiary Jetstar Airways, which will close its Singapore base to "streamline its low-cost operating model". The roles will be for Singaporeans and Singapore permanent residents, with job advertisements due to go live on February 27.
