Hanoi, June 23 -- Myanmar authorities have permanently deactivated 143,409 phone SIM cards suspected of being connected to online gambling activities, officials said on June 22. The SIM cards were permanently disabled between March 2025 and May 2026 after authorities found they had been used to distribute large volumes of identical messages promoting online gambling.
