Hanoi, March 19 -- Indonesia's Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki erupted at 14:36 on March 19 (local time), sending a thick column of grey ash up to 1,000 metres above the crater, according to the Centre for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG). Herman Yosef Mboro, an official at the Lewotobi Laki-laki Volcano Observation Post in East Nusa Tenggara province, said that the eruption was recorded on seismographs with a maximum amplitude of 14.8 mm and a duration of 130 seconds. PVMBG has urged residents to avoid activities within a 4-kilometre radius of the crater and to wear masks to protect their respiratory systems from volcanic ash.
