Gia Lai, April 28 -- The central province of Gia Lai is stepping up efforts to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing by investing hundreds of billions of Vietnamese dong to support fishermen in changing livelihoods and securing sustainable incomes. As part of this push, the provincial People's Committee has allocated 212 billion VND (about 8 million USD) to 16 coastal communes and wards to implement policies supporting job conversion and the decommissioning of fishing vessels that fail to meet operational requirements.
