Hanoi, Sept. 30 -- More than half of Vietnam's population has so far received free periodic health check-ups, with the rate exceeding 90% in some localities, and effectiveness and cost efficiency given the top priority. The Ministry of Health is compiling implementation results and developing guidelines for disease-specific screening, while promoting the use of existing medical data to avoid unnecessary repeat tests. Dr. Vuong Anh Duong, Deputy Director of the ministry's Department of Medical Service Administration, said the ministry has received reports from 34 provinces and cities and is reviewing the results.
