Cambodia cracks down on over 700 large-scale online scam centres
Hanoi, Aug. 31 -- Cambodia has dismantled more than 700 online scam facilities during a year-long nationwide crackdown, arresting nearly 30,000 suspects, including several senior officials and law enforcement officers, the Cambodian Government said. According to a statement from the Secretariat of the Ad-Hoc Commission for Combating Online Scams (CCOS), from July 2025 to August 20, 2026, specialised authorities inspected 793 suspected locations and raided 624 facilities. They also dealt with 27 casinos, permanently revoking the licences of 18 and suspending the operations of the remaining nine.
