Pretoria, Aug. 20 -- The ASEAN Committee in Pretoria (APC) on August 19 held a ceremony marking the 59th anniversary of ASEAN's founding (August 8, 1967 - 2026), as the bloc seeks to strengthen its central role in shaping the regional architecture and deepen its sectoral dialogue partnership with South Africa. The event was particularly significant as it marked three historic milestones: the 59th anniversary of ASEAN's establishment, the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), and the third anniversary of the ASEAN-South Africa Sectoral Dialogue Partnership.
