New Delhi, Aug. 29 -- Online travel-tech platform EaseMyTrip said on Friday that co-founder Prashant Pitti has resigned from his role as managing director.

He will now focus on mentoring startups, pursuing entrepreneurial ventures, and supporting public-good initiatives, while continuing as a promoter of the company.

The board has appointed his brother Nishant Pitti, previously CEO of EaseMyTrip, as managing director and chairman. The appointment is subject to shareholder approval.

"EaseMyTrip has always been very close to my heart," Nishant Pitti said in a statement. "Stepping into the role of chairman-cum-managing director gives me an opportunity to work even more closely with our people to unlock new opportunities, scale new heights, and continue building a travel-tech brand that India can be proud of."

Nishant had served as CEO till January 1, 2025, when he resigned citing personal reasons. His other brother Rikant Pittie then took over as CEO. Nishant and Rikant had founded EaseMyTrip in 2008, later joined by Prashant.

In his new role, Nishant will continue to guide the company's long-term vision, with a sharper focus on innovation, expansion, and stakeholder value creation, the company said.

The development comes amid the company diversifying actively into non-core areas since its March 2021 listing. Last year, it acquired stakes in healthcare firms Rollins International and Pflege Home Healthcare.

In February 2024, its board approved an investment of Rs 100 crore in Jeewani Hospitality to set up a luxury hotel in Ayodhya. The company also ventured into the electric bus manufacturing space by launching a new subsidiary Easy Green Mobility.
