India, Aug. 29 -- European airspace is a spider web of increasingly growing air traffic that cannot be expanded, yet the demands placed upon it are reaching a critical breaking point. Commercial air traffic is projected to rise significantly as global travel continues its post-pandemic recovery, while the geopolitical climate in Europe simultaneously requires a much higher tempo of military exercises to ensure credible deterrence and collective defence. The result is a "Zero-Sum Game" played at 30,000 feet, where every cubic mile of sky dedicated to a military mission is a mile taken from the most direct and fuel efficient route of a commercial airliner.
