India, Aug. 29 -- On 18 August 2025, the first of 4 ordered MQ-9B SkyGuardians was delivered to the Belgian Air Force at Florennes air base. About a month later, the MQ-9 made its maiden flight from Florennes in presence of the Belgian Minister of Defence and the Defence Staff, marking a new era. During the open house a SkyGuardian could be seen from nearby in one of the base hangers. The RPAS involved, the "MS-03" was also applied with a comet badge at its vertical lower fin, symbol of No 2 squadron which is the operational RPAS unit. The squadron, with a rich history flying the F-84F Thunderstreak, the Mirage V and finally the F-16 was disbanded back in 2001 and reactivated in 2023 as a preparation for its new MQ-9 tasks.
