With summer travel right around the corner, rising gas prices and ongoing uncertainty are forcing travelers to plan more carefully before hitting the road or heading to the airport. Planning in advance remains one of the most effective ways to keep costs under control, especially as fuel prices continue to fluctuate, says Virginia Tech hospitality and tourism expert Mahmood Khan.
"Early planning is the key to cutting costs for domestic or international travel," said Khan. "Although predicting gas prices is difficult, a rough calculation helps determine the associated costs. Last-minute decisions are mostly cost-intensive."
