WASHINGTON, Sept. 8 -- Sen. Roger Wicker issued the following press release:

U.S. Senators Roger Wicker, R-Miss., and Cindy Hyde-Smith, R-Miss., and U.S. Congressman Michael Guest, R-Miss., celebrated the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' decision to award the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) $4.25 million for a five-year redesignation as a Center of Excellence in Telehealth.

Congress appropriated this funding, which flows through the Telehealth Centers of Excellence program. Wicker, Hyde-Smith, and Guest fought for the funding during the Fiscal Year 2026 appropriations cycle. This program is designed for a five-year window, meaning UMMC will be eligible to receive subsequent awards over the next few years.
