U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) and Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (D-MI) have introduced the Domestic Violence Survivors Alerted for Emergency (SAFE) Notice Act, new legislation (https://www.whitehouse.senate.gov/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/LIP26B03.docx) to establish notification systems that would alert survivors of domestic violence offenses when their domestic abuser attempts to purchase a firearm illegally.
