SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Dequan Mitchell, 23, of Vallejo, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge William B. Shubb to 33 months in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm, U.S.Attorney Eric Grant announced.
According to court documents, at age 16, Mitchell murdered a man. While on probation for that crime, investigators discovered Mitchell was involved in posting a firearm for sale in an illicit gun trafficking application. When police searched Mitchell's mother's home, they discovered a loaded Glock 23 with an extended clip. That gun was the same gun Mitchell offered to sell for $1,200...
