ATLANTA, April 16 -- University System of Georgia Board of Regents issued the following news release:
The University of West Georgia (UWG) debate team on Wednesday captured the University System of Georgia's (USG) third annual Regents Cup Debate Series trophy, while Cassandra Ayers of Valdosta State University (VSU) earned top honors as the tournament's individual debate champion.
For only the second time, philanthropic support funded scholarships for the top individual debaters. Ayers, a sophomore communications major from Formia, Italy, received a $3,000 scholarship as the champion.
