BALTIMORE, Md., Aug. 18 -- The Uniformed Services University issued the following news release:

The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) School of Medicine(SOM) has welcomed its 51st class, the Class of 2030, bringing together 177 students selected from a competitive pool of 2,338 applicants.

That level of interest translates to a 13:1 applicant-to-position ratio. Of those who matriculated, 65 will serve in the Army, 53 in the Navy, and 54 in the Air Force, along with four students from the U.S. Coast Guard and one from the U.S. Public Health Service.

The SOM Admissions Office extended 292 offers to fill the class, resulting in an acceptance rate of 12% and a yield of 61%. Eight of those offers came through the Earl...
