ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 5 -- United States Patent no. 12,616,464, issued on May 5, was assigned to WRIGHT MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY INC. (Memphis, Tenn.).
"Stabilization devices" was invented by George Matthew Awtrey (Bartlett, Tenn.) and Robert Michael Carlo III (Lakeland, Tenn.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Stabilization device embodiments for use in orthopedic procedures to couple to target areas of tissue. Stabilization devices described can be used to fuse, fix, provide a preselected spacing, and/or provide a preselected compression to target areas during use. Stabilization devices can be coupled to target areas using alignment elements such as pins, k-wires, and/or screws."
