ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 30 -- United States Patent no. 12,746,297, issued on Sept. 29, was assigned to Wayne State University (Detroit).

"Radiofrequency amplification by stimulated emission of radiation via parahydrogen induced polarization" was invented by Eduard Y. Chekmenev (Troy, Mich.), Baptiste Joalland (Hamtramck, Mich.) and Nuwandi M. Ariyasingha (Rochester Hills, Mich.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A RASER-inducing contrast agent for magnetic resonance (MR) modalities that includes a parahydrogen addition to unsaturated molecular precursor that renders radio amplification by stimulated emission of radiation (RASER) of protons and other nuclear spins."
