"Ferrule profile imaging and measurement" was invented by Kevin Cassady (Monroe, Wash.) and Alexis Bartels-Popelar (Woodinville, Wash.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "In some implementations, an optical component of a microscope may capture an image of a profile of a ferrule and a connector of an optical fiber based on the ferrule being received by a first opening of a first connector adapter of the microscope.
