ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,624,427, issued on May 12, was assigned to VBN Components AB (Uppsala, Sweden).

"3D printed high carbon content steel and method of preparing the same" was invented by Beste Ulrik (Bjorklinge, Sweden).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A 3D printed product of an iron based alloy having a narrow distribution of carbide areas is disclosed, as well as a method of preparing the product where the HIP and hardening is combined."

The patent was filed on Jan. 20, 2020, under Application No. 17/423,604.
