"Mobile device disinfection" was invented by David W Baarman (Fennville, Mich.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A disinfectant transmissive material incorporated into a case for a mobile device or a supporting surface of a disinfecting charger to enable disinfection of hard-to-reach areas. The case can be self-disinfecting. The disinfecting charger can have monitoring and safety systems that detect proximity and provide user feedback on safety, disinfection, and charge status along with automatic interlocks to protect the user from overexposure to disinfectant."
