US Patent Issued to UNM Rainforest Innovations on July 21 for "Composite tape spring with engineered deployment energy using nanoparticles and methods of making" (New Mexico Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 21 -- United States Patent no. 12,687,210, issued on July 21, was assigned to UNM Rainforest Innovations (Albuquerque, N.M.).

"Composite tape spring with engineered deployment energy using nanoparticles and methods of making" was invented by Mahmoud Reda Taha (Albuquerque, N.M.) and Mark R. Scherbarth (Albuquerque, N.M.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A tape spring having an elastic layer located in between one or more viscoelastic layers to form an elongated tape spring having a longitudinal axis."

The patent was filed on Oct. 2, 2020, under Application No. 17/062,393.
