ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 7 -- United States Patent no. 12,594,748, issued on April 7, was assigned to UNLIN GV (Wielsbeke, Belgium).

"Floor element" was invented by Quinten Christiaens (Harelbeke, Belgium), Jochen Bossuyt (Tiegem, Belgium) and Kristof Van Vlassenrode (Deinze, Belgium).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A floor element includes a substrate made of polymer, a top layer on one of the two sides of the substrate and a polymeric foamed layer on the other of the two sides of the substrate. The density of the polymeric foamed layer is less than 120 kg/m3."

The patent was filed on Nov. 30, 2020, under Application No. 17/757,552.
