ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,630,824, issued on May 19, was assigned to University of Massachusetts (Westborough, Mass.).

"RAAV-based compositions and methods" was invented by Terence Flotte (Worcester, Mass.), Christian Mueller (Worcester, Mass.) and Phillip D. Zamore (Worcester, Mass.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The invention relates to isolated nucleic acids and rAAV-based compositions, methods and kits useful for treating genetic diseases (e.g., alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency)."

The patent was filed on Jan. 30, 2024, under Application No. 18/426,444.
