ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 15 -- United States Patent no. 12,599,666, issued on April 14, was assigned to University of Massachusetts (Westborough, Mass.).

"Photolytic compounds and triplet-triplet annihilation mediated photolysis" was invented by Gang Han (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and Ling Huang (Worcester, Mass.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The invention provides novel photolytic compounds and prodrugs, nanoparticles and compositions thereof, and methods of conducting photolysis mediated by triplet-triplet annihilation."

The patent was filed on Oct. 7, 2020, under Application No. 17/765,251.
