ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,702,715, issued on Aug. 11, was assigned to University of Florida Research Foundation Inc. (Gainesville, Fla.).
"Targeted RNA degradation allows precision repurposing of protein-targeted small molecule medicines to RNA" was invented by Matthew D. Disney (Jupiter, Fla.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The protein targeted medicine, Dovitinib, has been repurposed to target a non-coding RNA by using selection and computational drug design via Inforna. Selectivity was achieved for pre-miR-21 by endowing the medicine with the ability to recruit RNA quality control enzymes to cleave the target."
