US Patent Issued to University of Connecticut on June 23 for "CRISPR-Cas12a reaction for rapid and highly sensitive isothermal nucleic acid detection" (Connecticut Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 15 -- United States Patent no. 12,662,694, issued on June 23, was assigned to University of Connecticut (Farmington, Conn.).

"CRISPR-Cas12a reaction for rapid and highly sensitive isothermal nucleic acid detection" was invented by Changchun Liu (Farmington, Conn.) and Xiong Ding (Farmington, Conn.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The disclosure provides methods and compositions for All-In-One Dual CRISPR-Cas12a (termed "AIOD-CRISPR") permit simple, rapid, ultrasensitive, specific, one-pot and visual detection of nucleic acids (DNA and RNA)."
