ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,624,071, issued on May 12, was assigned to Triad National Security LLC (Los Alamos, N.M.).
"Bright and stable red fluorescent protein" was invented by Hau Thi Bich Nguyen (Los Alamos, N.M.) and Geoffrey S. Waldo (Los Alamos, N.M.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Improved Red Fluorescent Proteins (RFPs), nucleic acids encoding the improved RFPs, and methods of generating improved RFPs are described. The improved RFP can be used to form fusion molecule and can be used in applications for which fluorescent proteins are used."
The patent was filed on March 30, 2023, under Application No. 18/193,002.
