ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 31 -- United States Patent no. 12,591,976, issued on March 31, was assigned to Thrive Bioscience Inc. (Wakefield, Mass.).

"Cell segmentation image processing methods" was invented by Alan Blanchard (Wakefield, Mass.), Kenneth W. Chapman (Godley, Texas), Christian D. Chapman (Cambridge, Mass.) and Frank Evans (Portland, Ore.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Methods for the image processing of cells are disclosed for the purpose of segmenting cell colonies for further processing to determine confluence, counting and morphology."
