ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,649,908, issued on June 9, was assigned to The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Chapel Hill, N.C.).
"Cell lines for production of adeno-associated virus" was invented by Haiyan Fu (Durham, N.C.) and Xinghua Zeng (Cary, N.C.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "This invention relates to a HEK-293 cell line that grows under animal component-free suspension conditions. This invention further relates a HEK-293 cell line that grows under adherent conditions. The cell lines may provide rapid and scalable production of adenoassociated virus (AAV) and support production of all serotypes and chimera of AAV."
