ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 14 -- United States Patent no. 12,681,009, issued on July 14, was assigned to The Regents of the University of California (Oakland, Calif.).

"Molecular target in cancer" was invented by Tannishtha Reya (La Jolla, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed are methods for identifying small molecule modulators of protein-RNA interactions that could potentially function as therapeutic agents in cancer treatment. Methods of identifying inhibitors of the RNA-binding functions of MSI2, as well as inhibitors identified thereof, are also disclosed."
