ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 7 -- United States Patent no. 12,594,544, issued on April 7, was assigned to The Regents at the University of California (Oakland, Calif.).

"High tar conversion performance of a Ni-Fe-MgO catalyst" was invented by Robert Cattolica (San Diego) and Tinku Baidya (San Diego).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed herein, inter alia, are novel nickel-iron-magnesium oxide catalyst compositions and methods of making and using the same."

The patent was filed on Nov. 16, 2017, under Application No. 16/347,145.
