ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,623,969, issued on May 12, was assigned to The Penn State Research Foundation.

"Process for cold sintering of calcium carbonate for precast construction materials" was invented by Aly Said (University Park, Pa.), Mehrzad Zahabi (Boston) and Ali Memari (State College, Pa.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Embodiments relate to use of a solution having low molarity to form a mixture with a ceramic compound that will facilitate formation of a sintered ceramic compact exhibiting grain boundary formation, low porosity, adequate compressive strength, and adequate hardness to be used as a precast block 108 for cement."
