ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 3 -- United States Patent no. 12,565,012, issued on March 3, was assigned to The Boeing Co. (Chicago).
"Induction welding using a heat sink and/or cooling" was invented by Robert A. DiChiara Jr. (Carlsbad, Calif.) and Creed Ernest Blevins (Aliso Viejo, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A heat sink for use in induction welding includes a number of tiles, wherein the tiles are electrically non-conductive and have a thermal diffusivity of greater than about 25 mm2/sec. A joint flexibly joins the tiles together."
The patent was filed on Sept. 6, 2022, under Application No. 17/929,857.
