ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 21 -- United States Patent no. 12,609,749, issued on April 21, was assigned to Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (PUBL) (Stockholm).

"Polarization based beam selection process" was invented by Andreas Nilsson (Gothenburg, Sweden), Par Ankel (Nodinge, Sweden), Fredrik Athley (Vastra Frolunda, Sweden) and Sven Petersson (Savedalen, Sweden).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "There is provided mechanisms for performing a beam selection process. A method is performed by a network node. The method comprises transmitting reference signals during the beam selection process. The beam selection process involves two consecutive beam sweeps to be performed using a set of direction beams. ...
