US Patent Issued to Spring Meadow Nursery on June 30 for "Hibiscus plant named 'RWOODS11'" (British Inventor)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 16 -- United States Patent no. PP37,509, issued on June 30, was assigned to Spring Meadow Nursery Inc. (Grand Haven, Mich.).

"Hibiscus plant named 'RWOODS11'" was invented by Roderick Ian Woods (King's Lynn, Great Britain).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new and distinct cultivar of Hibiscus plant named 'RWOODS11' is disclosed, characterized by large, single, reddish-pink flowers with a darker red central starburst/eye. Flowers open fully to a large, flat disc, with strongly overlapping petals. Plants are vigorous and floriferous, with upright, dense habits. The new cultivar is a Hibiscus, typically produced as an outdoor ornamental plant."
