ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 17 -- United States Patent no. PP37,273, issued on Feb. 17, was assigned to Spring Meadow Nursery Inc. (Grand Haven, Mich.).
"Clematis plant named 'Violet Lampion'" was invented by Szczepan Marczynski (Pruszkow, Poland).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new and distinct cultivar of Clematis spp. plant named 'Violet Lampion' is described, characterized by large, abundant purple flowers with two blooming seasons. Flowers produce durable seed heads with an attractive "fluffy" appearance. The new variety is a Clematis, normally used as an ornamental garden or landscape plant."
The patent was filed on Aug. 19, 2024, under Application No. 18/809,077.
