US Patent Issued to Spineology on Sept. 22 for "Fixated intervertebral mesh implant and method" (Wisconsin, Florida Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 24 -- United States Patent no. 12,740,869, issued on Sept. 22, was assigned to Spineology Inc. (St. Paul, Minn.).

"Fixated intervertebral mesh implant and method" was invented by Todd Bjork (Hudson, Wis.) and Michael Wang (Miami).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A mesh implant and/or container may be used as an intervertebral implant. The mesh implant may be anchored or otherwise fixed to the vertebral endplates to prevent the implant from migrating forward and out anteriorly to the spinal column. The mesh implant may be knitted with a rip stop, elastic or other stich pattern to prevent unraveling or tearing."
