US Patent Issued to Solid Biosciences on June 16 for "Modified AAV capsids and uses thereof" (Massachusetts Inventor)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,653,909, issued on June 16, was assigned to Solid Biosciences Inc. (Charlestown, Mass.).

"Modified AAV capsids and uses thereof" was invented by Peter Pechan (Newton, Mass.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The invention described herein provide a modified VPI capsid enabling preferential targeted expression of gene of interest (GOI) in muscle tissues, as well as recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV) with the GOI packaged with the modified VPI capsids, and uses thereof."

The patent was filed on Oct. 9, 2020, under Application No. 17/767,554.
