ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,667,552, issued on June 30, was assigned to Societe des Produits Nestle S.A. (Vevey, Switzerland).
"Dietary butyrate" was invented by Elizabeth Forbes-Blom (Epalinges, Switzerland), Martinas Kuslys (Grosshoechstetten, Switzerland), Ralf Heine (Berlin) and Amaury Patin (Lausanne, Switzerland).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A compound having the formula (1), (2), (3) or (4), or combinations thereof, for use in the prevention or treatment of dehydration, and/or in the treatment of diarrhea, wherein R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 and R6 are independently, a long chain fatty acid having between 16 and 20 carbons."
