US Patent Issued to Simplify Medical on May 26 for "Intervertebral spacer that dynamically promotes bone growth" (California Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 26 -- United States Patent no. 12,636,164, issued on May 26, was assigned to Simplify Medical Inc. (San Diego).

"Intervertebral spacer that dynamically promotes bone growth" was invented by Yves Arramon (Sunnyvale, Calif.) and David Hovda (Mountain View, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A dynamic intervertebral spacer includes a ring which is split on an anterior portion. A posterior portion of the ring acts as a torsion spring. After implantation, the ring is able to act as a spring between superior and inferior vertebral bodies, thus allowing dynamic bone growth in fusion procedures."

The patent was filed on Sept. 12, 2024, under Application No. 18/882,922.
