US Patent Issued to Seagate Technology on June 23 for "Laser diode for heat-assisted magnetic recording, and related apparatuses, devices, systems, and methods" (British, Irish, Indian Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 15 -- United States Patent no. 12,664,999, issued on June 23, was assigned to Seagate Technology LLC (Fremont, Calif.).

"Laser diode for heat-assisted magnetic recording, and related apparatuses, devices, systems, and methods" was invented by Aidan Dominic Goggin (Donegal, Ireland), Reyad Mehfuz (Londonderry, Great Britain) and Aritra Roy (West Bengal, India).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Laser diodes that include a mirror stack on the light-exit facet. The mirror stack has a reflectivity into the active region that is greater in air than when the laser diode is integrated into an apparatus.
