US Patent Issued to RTX on May 12 for "CMC airfoil with circumventing cooling passage" (Connecticut, California Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,624,637, issued on May 12, was assigned to RTX Corp. (Farmington, Conn.).

"CMC airfoil with circumventing cooling passage" was invented by Jonas Banhos (West Hartford, Conn.), James T. Roach (Vernon, Conn.), Russell Kim (Temecula, Calif.) and Raymond Surace (Newington, Conn.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An airfoil includes an airfoil section that defines a trailing edge region that includes a trailing edge. The airfoil section is formed of a ceramic matrix composite that includes core fiber plies and skin fiber plies.
