US Patent Issued to RTX on March 17 for "Method of forming a coating system" (Connecticut Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,577,661, issued on March 17, was assigned to RTX Corp. (Farmington, Conn.).

"Method of forming a coating system" was invented by Paul Sheedy (Bolton, Conn.), John A. Sharon (West Hartford, Conn.), Neal Magdefrau (Tolland, Conn.), Ryan M. Deacon (Colchester, Conn.) and Wayde R. Schmidt (Pomfret Center, Conn.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A coating system for a turbine engine component is disclosed. The coating system includes a substrate, an optional bond coat, a synthetic oxide layer and a top coat. The synthetic oxide layer is formed by atomic layer deposition and includes two or more oxides."
